What is the the violin string tuning for the black crow?
The violin is tuned (low to high) e-b-F#-c# and the song is performed in E major. Basically, the whole fiddle is tuned down a step and a half, which is hard on fiddles. We keep an extra fiddle on hand and keep it in this tuning all the time, which makes it easier for performing and on the fiddle. We also sometimes perform the song in G major, in which case Michael will lead it. For that, a standard fiddle tuning will work great!
Best of luck,
Michael & Laurel
