Hi! I can't tell you how impressed I am with the both of you. Your version of the blackest crow has brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. Thank you so much for the music you share with the world.
As a claw hammer player I find myself watching your version of pretty polly often on repeat. I was hoping you could share the banjo tuning for that song. It seems like it should be double c but when I try to play, it comes out all wrong.
All the best. Alex
Laurel is in a G modal tuning for "Pretty Polly." The only trick is that she capos up to the fifth fret to bring it to C modal. I believe she leaves her drone string where it would normally be in G modal. I think you'll have more success with that. Happy picking!
Hey, Laurel and Michael!
It was so great to meet the two of you at your show outside of Richmond last night!
If you come back through Richmond anytime soon, I'd recommend looking at either The Camel or The Broadberry - they're right in the city and often host shows in the same vein as Red Tail Ring.
I'm determined to learn "Clearing in the Wild" on the uke after hearing it played live last night, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find that lots of other people love it and have already asked about the chords on here.
I hope to cross paths with you again soon, and enjoy the rest of your tour!
Hi guys, absolutely love your sound. Like many others it seems, I came across you via the Blackest Crow video...just beautiful. I've been trying to work out Michael's harmony so that my partner and I can sing it, but can't quite get it down... I'd be really grateful if you could give me a clue as to his line? If you ever find yourselves in the UK, we will definitely be there. Thank you!
